Narrowboat Canal Holiday Pictures |
| A different kind of
holiday, at a maximum speed of 4mph walking was sometimes faster. The pace of
life being much slower than our normal holidays it made for a nice change. We
had planned to go to Liecester but the canal was leaking and so was closed at
Foxton. You had to moor up for the night so it was important to have things to
do once darkness set in. We did have a TV on board but the reception was not
very good - you lost touch with world events - making it easier to relax. The
distance covered during the week was just over 70 miles, a mile post at Foxton
states five and a half miles to Market Harborough and twenty seven and a half
miles to Braunston which does not include the detour to Welford. Seventy miles
in five days, we'd do seventy miles in an hour on the motorway! |
